Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1000 officers and men for election duties across 20 local Government areas of Bauchi State.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Spokesman of the command, DSC Ibrahim Gabdo, on Thursday in Bauchi.
He said that the deployment was based on the directive of Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Audi, to ensure protection of critical national assets across the state.
Gabdo said that the personnel would also support the police and other security agencies to secure voters and election officials on Saturday.
He appealed to political parties, religious bodies, Civil Society Organizations and other stakeholders to support the efforts of security agencies to ensure a hitch free election.
Gabdo added that the NSCDC Commandant In the state, Mr Ameh James had warned that anybody found trying to mar the exercise in any way will be made to face the wrath of the law.
“The Commandant reaffirms that the NSCDC is fully prepared for the presidential and National Assembly elections coming up on Feb. 25, and the Governorship and State Assembly elections of March 11.”
He warned all officers and men to remain apolitical and exhibit professionalism while on election duty.(NAN)
