Calabar, October 27, 2024 – In a symbolic blend of faith and governance, Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State has reappointed Archbishop Emmah Isong, a notable cleric and the National Publicity Secretary of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), as the Director General of the state’s Anti-Tax Agency.
The announcement was made during the weekend’s 5-Star Celebration and installation service, a grand ceremony marking Archbishop Isong’s elevation from Bishop and celebrating his 60th birthday.
The event, held on Sunday in Calabar, witnessed an array of dignitaries and community members who gathered to honour Isong’s steadfast service to both the spiritual and social welfare of the Cross River State.
Governor Otu, while announcing the appointment, commended Isong’s remarkable commitment to justice, truth, and compassion, describing him as a “preacher of the gospel who speaks the truth, regardless of consequences, even in times of tribulation.”
Isong previously held the role of Director General of the Anti-Tax Agency under former Governor Ben Ayade. His tenure was marked by rigorous efforts to curb illegal taxation and defend vulnerable residents from undue financial burdens.
