Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) has defeated Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and others to win the 2023 presidential election in Cross River State.
According to the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday at the State Collation Centre in Calabar, Obi won the Saturday, February 25, 2023 Presidential election in Cross River State with a wide margin.
The INEC State Collation Officer, Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, announced that Peter Obi polled 179,917 to defeat his closest rival Bola Tinubu who scored 130,520 votes to come second and Atiku who polled 95,425 votes to come third respectively.
As of the time of filing this report, Atiku is leading in the total number of States with 10 states, followed by Tinubu and Obi with 7 and 6 states, while Kwankwaso of NNPP 1 state out the 24 states announced by the INEC.
The announcement of the results sparked jubilations in Cross River State as many said they expected the numbers to be more up.

Ekpenyong Bassey, one of the electorates told CONVERSEER that, “finally, the people’s choice has won and I and my family can now rest and wait for the overall results across the nation.
“Peter Obi is the real change Nigerians are hoping to usher into the Aso Rock come May 29 and we hope the INEC won’t compromise the results in the end.
“I am so so happy when I heard the news this morning, it has already made my day – be it not for irregularities, Obi could have scored more than this but all the same, he has won”.
Analysis of the Cross River State 2023 Presidential election
Out of the 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Cross River State, LP won 10 LGAs, APC won 7 and PDP won 1.
The Labour Party (LP) won in Calabar South, Yakurr, Obudu, Bakassi, Ikom, Bekwarra, Calabar Municipality, Yala, Ogoja and Akamkpa Local Government Areas.
APC won in Etung, Abi, Akpabuyo, Odukpani, Boki, Biase and Obubra Local Government Areas.
PDP could only manage Obanliku Local Government Area.
