Some snacks and food vendors at polling units in Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra, are making brisk sales as voters await INEC officials’ arrival to cast their votes.
Mrs Chiamaka Okeke, a food vendor at Enugwu-Ukwu Ward 2 in Njioka Local Government of Anambra, expressed happiness that her business was moving fast.
Okeke said that she made five coolers of jollof rice, moi-moi and plantain, but by 11 am, her food had finished.
She said that since 7am her food was ready and about 7.30am voters started approaching her shop since INEC officials were yet to come to the unit.
“I am happy that am selling my food, though the payment is by transfer and l am worried in case the payment fails, anyway I know them all,” she said.
Mrs Nnedi Ibeamaka, who sells snacks and soft drinks, said that the day was very bright more than expected, all thanks to the delay in the voting process.
NAN reports that most youths who came for voting were drinking and playing indoor games.
The voters who spoke under anonymity said they would stay till INEC officers arrive for the polls. (NAN)
