A philanthropist, Mr Raphael Galleh, has donated sanitary towels to 106 students of St. Kizito Girls Secondary School, Duduguru, in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Galleh, a lecturer at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Jos that the gesture was part of his quest to promote menstrual hygiene and to assist the less privileged.
“As a microbiologist, I appreciate the importance of menstrual hygiene and the need to support the girl child in this regard.
“The school chosen is my wife’s the alma mater and I needed a school with high population of young girls to do this.
“It costs N96,000 to carry out the project, but the money is nothing compared to the impact this small intervention will create in the lives of the beneficiaries.
“I give, not because I have it all, but because I know exactly how it feels not to have it at all; we just want to make the world a better place for all,’’ he said.
Galleh paid the Senior School Certificate Examination registration fees for some orphans in the state in 2022.
He is currently running his PhD at Sheffield University, United Kingdom. (NAN)
