Photo: Army Achieves Record Recruitment Following Trump's Election Victory

The United States military appears to be making a major military recruitment turnaround following President Donald Trump’s landslide victory over former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. The recruitment turnaround comes as the U.S. Army revealed record recruitment statistics for the month of December.

In a Tuesday post on X, formerly Twitter, the U.S. Army shared a picture of Army recruits and announced that U.S. Army Recruiting had “their most productive December in 15 years by enlisting 346 Soldiers daily into the World’s greatest #USArmy.”

Army officials added, “Our Recruiters have one of the toughest jobs – inspiring the next generation of #Soldiers to serve. Congratulations and keep up the great work! #BAYCB.”

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth also celebrated the Army’s recent recruiting numbers, tweeting, “BREAKING: In December 2024, the @USArmy had its best recruiting number in 12 years. In January 2025, the Army hit its best recruiting number in 15 YEARS. BOTTOM LINE: America’s youth want to serve under the bold & strong ‘America First’ leadership of @realDonaldTrump.”

According to Military.com, internal data reviewed by the outlet shows that the Army is roughly halfway toward its goal of recruiting 61,000 active-duty soldiers during Fiscal Year 2025. Since the start of the fiscal year in October, the Army has reached 30,000 new enlistments, which is an increase of approximately 6,000 enlistments compared to the same period in Fiscal Year 2024, according to Military.com.

The Army’s increased recruitment following Trump’s election win in November represents a stark contrast to the military’s recruitment shortfall in Fiscal Year 2023. According to the Department of Defense, the military missed its recruitment goal by roughly 41,000 recruits in Fiscal Year 2023 under the Biden-Harris administration.

In the face of military recruitment challenges under the Biden-Harris administration, the Army announced last year that it would be reducing the size of its force by roughly 24,000 troops.

In a post reshared by Hegseth on X, radio show host Christopher Calvin Reid noted the contrast in military recruitment under Trump’s leadership, saying, “There are several young men from my hometown who were planning to go to college but have now enlisted to serve under @PeteHegseth and @realDonaldTrump! Our military will be back to full strength by the end of the year thanks to ending DEI and promoting the meritocracy!”
