Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has kept to his promise after he recently donated 24 18-seater buses to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Cross River State.
There have been doubts about the donation as the opposition and the ruling party in the State, the All Progressives Congress, APC has taken the news to the next level. Some even swore to their great-grandmother’s graves that Wike never fulfilled his promise as the donation continues to cause stirs in the state.
However, CONVERSEER on Saturday obtained photos of the 24 18-seater buses donated by Wike to Cross River State PDP.
A PDP Chieftain and an aide to Rt. Hon. Efa Esua, 2023 PDP Candidate and Member Representing Calabar Municipal State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, who spoke under anonymity confirmed that the PDP in the state has received the 24 18-seater buses from Wike.
“As I am talking to you, we have received the buses. Here is a photo. You can see my boss (Esua) and Hon. Nelson Ofem standing in front of the buses”, the PDP Chieftain said.

The buses were donated on Wednesday for campaign purposes after a delegation of the PDP visited Wike in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.

The delegation which was led by the 2023 PDP Governorship candidate in Cross River State, Sen. Sandy Onor, includes Chairmen of the party in various councils and some of the State and National Assembly candidates.
“Today is historic. Wike is a trailblazer for justice and equity. He speaks the truth endlessly. We thank Wike for being a good friend when Governor Ben Ayade defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Wike has defended us and protected us from intimidation and has made PDP a party to beat in Cross River. There is nothing that Wike is asking for that is personal. All he seeks is justice”, Onor said.
In his response to the news, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, former Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari, asserted that Governor Wike is plotting to put Cross River State under his armpit.
“Rivers State is plotting to put Cross River State under its thumb. Cross River State cannot be a satellite colony of Rivers State. Rivers State was also created on May 27, 1967. Therefore, Cross River and Rivers State were born on the same day. They were part of the defunct Eastern Region of Nigeria.
“All the leaders of the Calabar Ogoja Rivers State Movement that championed the creation of a State out of the defunct Eastern Region were from the present Akwa Ibom and Cross River States.
“After 69 years, it is sacrilegious for politicians from Cross River State to troop to Rivers State to beg for political support, favours, and money to run elections here in our State. Our Governor must source money and materials to fund his election from our State.
“His allegiance must be to the good people of Cross River State, not to a local potentate in Port Harcourt”, Obono-Obla, said in a statement.
