The Coalition of Community Based Organisations in Kano State on Wednesday lauded the conduct of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other stakeholders for the peaceful conduct of Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections in state.
Addressing newsmen at the NUJ Press Centre on Wednesday in Kano, the Convener of the coalition, Mr Gadaffi Mujid, commended the INEC officials for demonstrating high sense of professionalism that pave way for smooth implementation of the electoral process in the state.
He also hailed security agencies and journalists for supporting the process of deepening the country’s democracy.
Mujid however called for intensive training of electoral presiding officers and other adhoc personnel to enable them handle election equipments better.
He paid special appreciation to security agencies for providing a level playing ground that pave way for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the election in the state.
“We call on Nigerians, irrespective of tribe and religious differences, to unite and support the incoming administration for peace, progress and political growth of our country,” he said. (NAN)
