Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende, the Special Adviser to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Special Duty and Inter-governmental Relations, has donated fishing equipment to residents of Jegeme in Badagry.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the donation on Monday, Ogunlende said this was to show appreciation to the riverine community for their commitment at the presidential and National Assembly elections.
“We have also come to seek for their votes in the coming governorship election on March 11.
“On Feb.25, the people of Jegeme community in Badagry, Lagos, surprised us with their votes and we have come to surprise them too.
“In appreciation, I have brought lifejackets and power banks for the elders and youths to show them that we are grateful for their support.
“We are seeking their further support toward the re-election of Sanwo-Olu, deputy governor and other candidates of our party.
“I also shared T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda pamphlets showcasing the achievement of Sanwo-Olu since the inception of this administration.
“The riverine communities play active role in the Badagry federation as I used that opportunity to empower the fishermen with fishing equipment so as to increase their productivity,” he said.
Ogunlende urged the residents to use their index fingers to cast their votes during the next election, adding that many votes were canceled during the last election due to wrong voting.
Also speaking, Mr Muritala Gafar, the Chairman, Badagry Local Government Area, said the votes recorded on Feb 25. were commendable.
Gafar appreciated the residents for their support during the presidential election and urged them to vote for Sanwo-Olu in the forthcoming governorship election.
He also commended Ogunlende for donating fishing equipment to the people in the area.
In his remarks, Chief Lukuman Sunmola, the Baale of Jegeme, said they were happy with the visit of Sanwo-Olu’s aide.
Sunmola assured him that the residents would come out en masse and vote for Gov. Sanwo-Olu and the two house of assembly candidates in Badagry on March 11. (NAN)
