CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – The Internet, especially social media, has been buzzing in the last 72 hours with ex-Governor Ben Ayade’s Special Assistant on Media, Ursula Agbor, being on top of the trend.
Before explaining the story, Ursula claimed she is an “aide” to the former governor and the current one – a claim that has been refuted by both Governor Bassey Otu’s Chief and Deputy Press Secretaries.
“Loveth or whatsoever they say your name is, just a quick reminder in case you don’t know, I am an aid to the Governor – both past and present,” Ursula said in a voice message obtained by Converseer on Monday.
Boasting further, she said, “Let me take you back memory lane, I don’t work for Local Government Chairmen, I don’t work as a Councillor, and I can never work as a Ward Leader, I work with distinguished personalities – from security; I look at the IG {Inspector General of Police}, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Sector Commanders in the states, governors, mentioned but a few,” these are the words of Ursula, who claimed to be a Media Personality with Cross River Broadcasting Corporation (CRBC), to one Loveth Bissong, a supposed restaurant operator in Calabar, Cross River State.
Anyways, Governor Otu’s aides have responded to Ursula. “I have watched the video of Miss Ursula Agbor being introduced @ an event by an army officer as “SA to the Governor”. Ursula was once Special Assistant to former Gov Ben Ayade. She may still be peddling that title. But she isn’t an appointee of Gov Bassey Edet Otu. The general public should please take note. Ursula Agbor IS NOT, for emphasis, an appointee of Governor Otu!” Linus Obogo, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, stated in a post on Monday on Facebook.
Collaborating, Edem Darlington, Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, in a Facebook post on Monday, wrote: “There’s a difference between Ex and AIDE. Please take note.”
Now, what led to all this…
Ursula claimed Loveth, whom she usually patronises whenever she’s in Calabar, tried to poison her just because she [Ursula] refused to be her [Loveth] lesbian friend. Yes! You heard that right.
“I have been patronising her restaurant at Triangle, Calabar by Effio-Ette Roundabout, owned by the said Loveth Bisong as introduce [sic] to me by my friend and Manager [Justin]. Lately, the said Loveth approach (sic) me to be her lover and when I declined since I am not a lesbian, she resulted (sic) into hatred and plan [sic] to harm me through food poison (sic),” Ursula said in a Facebook post, while trying to clear her name.
Ursula petitioned the State House Police to arrest Loveth after several confrontations on the phone and WhatsApp. “I confronted her on a phone call, which she never denied, but promised to send an audio call of who made the threat of poisoning me.
“I waited for the recording call but to no avail and I officially reported the matter to the Nigeria Police State Housing which the police invited the said Loveth severally she never turn-up and her lawyer Barr. James Ibor promised to bring her which he did (sic).
“As for the Video on circulation, during the exchange of words, Loveth Bisong’s boyfriend made a video secretly and edited their abusive words on me and posted my words against theirs on social media.
“At the station, the interview between parties took place and the matter was resolved by all parties,” her post added.
Several voice notes and videos spotted by our Reporter revealed the denigrating words Ursula used on Loveth.
Narrating her part of the story in a virtual interview with Diana Mary Nsan, Loveth claimed she never said she would poison Ursula, nor did she threaten her at any point.
“I sell pepper soup, drinks and food and I am also an event vendor. Ursula Agbor has been patronising me for a couple of months, she and one other man. They have been coming there for the past three or four months, and sometimes they order food, so we go to deliver for them.
“So, on this particular day, they came and that was on the 2nd of this month – they came and ordered food. When they ordered the food, when they left, Ursula called me back, and her boyfriend told her that I told him that I wanted to poison her. I was like, I don’t understand. When and how do we have that conversation?” Loveth said.
She added that she and Ursula’s boyfriend don’t talk apart from the food business, adding that Ursula urged her to send the record of the last conversation between her and the boyfriend. “I called her boyfriend and asked him, please, Ursula said you said it’s better that I do not call her. After that, I now called her.
“So I called her boyfriend.
When I called her boyfriend to ask the boyfriend, what transpired that you went and discussed this kind of stuff with Ursula? He said it’s a lie, that he and Ursula had issues, lovers’ issues. So Ursula thought that maybe he’s going out with me. That’s why she brought that speculation to know whether truly, I’m going out with him or not.
“So when I called Ursula back, she was very angry that I called the man back. To ask the man about the whole issue, what she told me about. The next thing, she started dropping insulting messages and threats.
“She started threatening me and telling me I’m a nobody. She can cross me. She can make me disappear. That she’s going out with the Governor, IG is also her friend. She started sending me messages about people she has locked up before now, put behind bars, like Chinese restaurant she locked the man for over three days. Then Airport Field, Mustard Seed. She sent me the apologies.
“She now said, I should write an apology letter to her, stating that I’m very, very sorry. I said, Ma, I did not do anything. What should I write in the apology letter? She said, I should state that I’m very sorry for this. I said, Ma, me, I did not say anything. I cannot write an apology letter. So she said, OK, I want to dare. I will see her power in this state.
“She asked me to come to Zone 6 (Police Command), and we went there. I spent one hour, but she was not there and I moved back to my lawyer, Barrister James Ibor. Before I got to the barrister’s office, she had brought some policemen to my shop, collected my neighbour’s sales girl’s number, and my neighbour’s sales girl carried them to my house. So she went to my house with some policemen, came back, was looking for me, and was calling me to come to the shop. I did not go that day.
“The next morning, we came to the police station with the barrister.
She was now shouting and talking,” she said.
She also said Ursula petitioned her over a threat to life and deformation of character, after demanding a handwritten apology letter.
“At the Police, she (Ursula) said threat to life and deformation of character. At what point did you threaten her life? I have never had any physical confrontation with Ursula before. She said I should write an apology letter and come and give it to her,” she added
“So when we got to the police station, she said they should detain me for two days. My barrister had to talk and talk and talk. That was when the DPO said I should go. I left that day, that’s it. The next day, they said I should come for an interview.”
Loveth said the matter has affected her business as she has not made sales throughout the period of the incident.
“I’ve not been to my business place for the past two days. I usually don’t look for trouble, and I don’t have time for trouble. I focus on my business and my growth. I have always focused on my business, and I’ve never been in a police station or fighting with anybody. I don’t have that energy and time, my own is that Ursula should just leave me alone, I’m more focused on my business,” Loveth decried.
Meanwhile, Ursula had claimed in one of her statements that Loveth and her boyfriend edited their part of the conversation, leaving only hers.
At the time of filing this report, Ursula has been suspended by the CRBC where she works as a Media Personality. She has also been detained by the police.
Efforts to reach Ursula and Loveth’s boyfriends for comment proved abortive at the time of filing this report.
