The Nigeria Midstream and Down Stream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has intensified routine patrol and monitoring of servicing stations to enhance steady fuel supply in Adamawa.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) while going round some of the filling stations in Yola on Tuesday observed that a team of officials led by the State Coordinator of the Regulatory Agency has directed all filling stations who has the products in stock to begin selling to consumers or risked being sanctioned.
Dr.Bashir Surajo Kafur,the newly deployed coordinator of the Agency have warned independent petroleum marketers against sharp practices capable of causing scarcity of the commodity.
He emphasised that the agency would continue to monitor the supply and distribution of the commodity at the designated filling stations for dispensing to consumers,stressing we would not condone sharp practices.
Kafur,who also addressed members of the state chapter of the Independent Marketers Association (IPMAN) , Major Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) and NNPC Retails Stations.
He charged them to abide by the regulations and avoid sharp practices,stressing we would not hesitate to sanction violators,
NAN also reports that scarcity of petroleum products have continue to bite harder on residents of Adamawa state though the officials of the regulatory agencyhave intensified routine Surveillance and patrol of existing outlets to ensure enforcement of rules
According to him,today, the state has received delivery of six additional trucks of the premium motor spirit (petroleum) and it has been distributed to the designated petroleum stations for sales to consumers.
He directed pump attendants not dispensed above 25 liters of the product to Taxi drivers and generators while no sales to jerrycans while genuine vehicle owners could get full tank in their vehicles.
The Cordinator also ordered that those who got full tank in their vehicles should not be reconsidered till the next four days especially those operating taxis as majority of these taxis drivers sales it in black markets.
He said the initiative was aimed at ensuring steady supply of the commodity , eliminating of queues and ensure prudence and accountability in the supply and distribution chain.
Malam Ahmed Hamman who was at the Yola NNPC mega station commended the agency for the surveillance and patrol which has compelled some marketers to open and sale the comkodity to deserving consumers.
He expressed happiness that the instances of long queues have been reduced due to the vigilance of the agency ,saying may God reward them abundantly.(NAN)
