A security guard, Cyprian Chibuike, was on Thursday docked in a Grade 1 Area Court, Karu, Abuja, for allegedly stealing unspecified planks of wood and clips worth N185,000.
The police charged Chibuike, 24, who lives in Maitama, Abuja with theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Ade Adeyanju ,told the court that the matter was reported at the Maitama Police station by Ifukar Courage of flat 8, Abana Estate behind living faith church, Madalla, Abuja.
Adeyanju told the court that on Oct. 13, the defendant stole the clips and planks worth N185, 000.
He said that the defendant covered the CCTV camera before committing the crime.
The offence, he said, contravenes the provisions of Section 289 of the Penal Code.
He said that during the police investigation, the defendant confessed to the crime, but pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The stolen items he said are yet to be recovered.
The Judge, Mr Ana’s Mohammed, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with one surety in like sum who must live within the court’s jurisdiction.
Mohammed ordered that the address, National ID card or driver’s licence of the surety must be verified by an officer of the court.
