Senator Jarigbe Eulogises Late Joseph Wayas at Senate Valedictory Session

Sen. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe

Abuja, Nigeria – The Senator representing Cross River North, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has lauded the late Joseph Wayas for his immense contributions to Nigeria’s democracy.

Speaking during a valedictory session held by the Senate in honour of the former Senate President on Thursday, November 28, 2024, Jarigbe described Wayas as “a statesman in his own class.”

In a heartfelt tribute, Senator Jarigbe noted that Dr Wayas’ legacy of dedication and service remains unparalleled.

“Dr Wayas’ remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s democracy and development cannot be quantified. He is a statesman in his own class,” he said.

The late Joseph Wayas, a distinguished politician and former Senate President, recently passed away, leaving behind a lasting legacy of commitment to national unity, peace, and development.

The Senate’s valedictory session served as a platform to celebrate his achievements and reflect on his impact as a leader.

Jarigbe praised Wayas’ tireless efforts to promote stability and progress in the country. He also commended the Cross River State government for honouring the statesman with a state funeral.

“The tribute paid by Nigerians reflects the high esteem in which Wayas is held by his colleagues, constituents, and the nation at large,” he remarked.

The senator concluded by urging Nigerians to honour the memory of their leaders and celebrate their contributions to the nation’s growth and development.

“May the soul of Senator Joseph Wayas rest in peace,” he stated.

Dr Joseph Wayas served as Senate President during Nigeria’s Second Republic and was a pivotal figure in the country’s democratic journey.
