Former NFL defensive back, Stanley Wilson Jr., who played three seasons for the Detroit Lions, passed away at the age of 40.
According to TMZ, Wilson passed away on February 15 at the Metropolitan State Hospital in Los Angeles. The reason for death has not been made public.
After being arrested for vandalism in August and being deemed unable to face trial, Wilson Jr. was sent to the hospital for treatment on February 1.
Wilson Jr. was charged with breaking into a Hollywood Hills house twice on separate occasions, one of which resulted in the home’s property being damaged.
Autopsy reports are still pending for his autopsy report. There is supposedly no evidence of foul play.

His father, Stanley Wilson Sr., was a former Bengals running back. After being selected by the Detroit franchise in 2005, he only spent two seasons with the Lions before calling it quits in 2007.
After his playing career, Wilson Jr. had numerous encounters with the law, including a charge of attempted burglary after he broke into a house in Portland in 2016. The former athlete was “completely nude,” according to TMZ when the assault took place.
He was detained twice more in 2017, once for roaming about a Portland area while undressed and once more for a second claim of an attempted break-in, according to the news source at the time.
Over the course of 32 NFL games, Wilson Jr. recorded 87 tackles, eight pass breakups, and one forced fumble.
