Eyebrows were raised after Dr Betta Edu, the All Progressive Pary, APC National Women Leader’s name was missing from the party’s 2023 women campaign team list.
CONVERSEER gathered that several prominent women and members of the party were listed on the campaign list. They include First Aisha Buhari as grand patron and Oluremi Tinubu, senator representing Lagos Central and wife of APC Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, as chairman.
Others are Nana Shettima, wife of the APC vice-presidential candidate, Karim Shettima, as co-chairman and Zainab Ibrahim, APC Deputy National Women leader was among those chosen to coordinate activities in states not controlled by the APC.

However, a group within the party, the All Progressives Congress Support Group (APCSG), has claimed that the APC National Women Leader was excluded from the list.

Responding, Edu, a former Health Commissioner in Cross River State said her position is to supervise activities for the presidential campaign.
Her words: “It is really very simple and straight. I am Dr Betta Edu and I am the APC national women leader, the number one woman in APC — the ruling party, the largest party in Africa”.
“And so, it would be abnormal to have my name in any list under other persons who would definitely, should ordinarily, be under me, in the party.
“So, really, my role is actually supervisory. Anything that has to do with women, their mobilisation, their engagements, whatever it is, I am supposed to spearhead all of it. So, this is just a support team for the main campaign which will be unveiled soon”.
She further stated that the list is not the council list but the women’s presidential campaign.
“Remember, this is the women’s presidential campaign team. It’s not the council. So, all of these are all under the APC as a party. We are the vehicles, then we have passengers that drive”, Edu added.
