Toyota to launches two new pure electric cars

Toyota bZ Sport Crossover Concept and bZ FlexSpace Concept

At Wednesday’s press conference, Toyota China revealed that at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show, Toyota will have two new pure electric vehicles making their global debut – bZ Sport Crossover Concept and bZ FlexSpace Concept.

Summary of the basic information of the two models as follows:

  • bZ Sport Crossover Concept “Smart Crossover”: Jointly developed by Toyota and BYD Toyota Electric Vehicle Technology Co., Ltd. (established in 2020), FAW Toyota, and Toyota Motor R&D Centre (China), produced and sold by FAW Toyota

  • bZ FlexSpace Concept: Jointly developed by Toyota and GAC Group, GAC Toyota, and Toyota China R&D Centre, and produced and sold by GAC Toyota

In addition, Toyota will also have a brand new electric concept car unveiled at the auto show. Officials say this car will reflect Toyota’s future design concepts and have “new technological subversion” in intelligence and chassis technology.

Toyota also said that it will conduct in-depth intelligent cooperation with “major Chinese manufacturers” and insist on mass production of solid-state batteries around 2027 – still focusing on small-batch production.

In other respects, the bZ4X ROBOTAXI self-driving taxi, GR YARiS, Camry 2.5L dual-engine version and other models jointly launched by Toyota and Pony.ai will also be unveiled during this auto show.
