Finally, the Ts have been crossed and the Is have been dotted as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Cross River State has received the 24 18-seater buses gifted by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
CONVERSEER had reported that Wike, last week Wednesday pronounced the issuance of 24 buses (all 18 seaters) to support his party, PDP, in neighbouring Cross River State.
However, our Reporter gathered that 7 days after, all 24 buses have been delivered – on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at about 9 pm.
There were received by Sen. Sandy Onor, Governorship candidate of the PDP in his campaign office in Calabar, Cross River State.
Recall also that a delegation led by Onor, including Chairmen of the party in various councils and some of the State and National Assembly candidates, visited Wike when he made the pronouncement.
In his response, Onor said: “Today is historic. Wike is a trailblazer for justice and equity. He speaks the truth endlessly. We thank Wike for being a good friend when Governor Ben Ayade defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Wike has defended us and protected us from intimidation and has made PDP a party to beat in Cross River. There is nothing that Wike is asking for that is personal. All he seeks is justice”.
CONVERSEER also reported that Wike disclosed last week Friday to newsmen in Port Harcourt that he has sponsored several elections in Cross River and other states in Nigeria
He said; “I’ve supported Cross River State during several elections. I’ve supported Edo State, and I’ve also supported Imo State and other states.
“You see, Cross River came to me and I also supported in the primaries – if you want to run for election in the party and you ask me for support, I’ll support you.
“People will always read meaning to things – should we not be happy? I am not from that state, I am only supporting a party.
“The last by-election that was held in Cross River State, ask Liyel Imoke, I supported it because of the party”.
