Obanliku, Cross River State – As part of preparations for the funeral of the late former Senate President, Distinguished Senator Dr Joseph Wayas, scheduled for November 30, Cross River Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Planning Committee, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, on Sunday, conducted a routine inspection of the deceased’s compound where the construction of the mausoleum and other works are ongoing.
The visit aimed to assess the progress and quality of work at Wayas’s Sankwala residence, including the tomb, access roads, and other related projects.
Similarly, the team inspected the Donald Duke Airstrip, Bebi, where the remains of the late Senate President as well as guests coming to Obanliku by air will be landing.
Odey was accompanied by the Secretary of the Central Planning Committee for the burial, Dorn Cklaimz Enamhe, Council Chairman of Ogoja LGA, Hon. Chris Agbeh, Commissioner for Social Housing, Hon. Mrs Beatrice Igwe, Commissioner for Wealth Creation, Hon. Patrick Egbede, and his International Donor Coordination counterpart, Dr Hippolatus Lukpata, Head of Personal Staff to the Deputy Governor, Dr Chris Ojikpong, as well as the Vice Chairman of Obudu LGA, Hon. Rhoda Ashong.
