Cross River becomes model for monthly environmental sanitation

Cross River Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Moses Osogi, has asserted that the state is now a model in terms of environmental sanitation, following the emulation from other states.

Osogi made this remark on Saturday, 31st August 2024, while monitoring the state monthly sanitation exercise in the Calabar metropolis.

The Commissioner who expressed appreciation to residents of the state for imbibing the culture of cleanliness as demonstrated in their consistent compliance with the monthly sanitation exercise, noted that “The exercise is growing every day,” adding that, “What we have seen today shows that Cross Riverians appreciate cleanliness and cleaning the environment is everyone’s business, not just the government alone.”

Continuing, Osogi said “Everyone has come to understand that what this government brought is what everybody is now copying. When you check the media space you will understand that so many states are copying Cross River by introducing sanitation exercise every last Saturday of the month. We set the pace. Kudos to Cross River State.”

On the current warning regarding flood in some parts of the country, the Commissioner reiterated the state government’s preparedness to tackle any incident of flood, explaining that “We got the signal and prepared ahead of time. We sensitise and create awareness among those staying in flashpoints. We are doing desilting – that’s one major thing that checks flood.”
