Governor Otu suspends Secondary Education Board Teachers’ recruitment interview

The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, has suspended the scheduled interview for the 2024 State Secondary Education Board secondary school teachers’ recruitment.

CONVERSEER reports that Paulinus Eno, Chairman/Director of Administration, Cross River State Secondary Education Board, on 20th September, scheduled 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th September for interview for the shortlisted candidates for the various teaching positions in public secondary schools across the State.

However, Governor Otu in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nsa Gill, on Monday, directed the immediate suspension of the scheduled interview.

The Governor said Eno is not authorised to fix a date for the interview while directing him to meet with the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh, for further instructions.

“His Excellency, the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, has instructed the immediate suspension of the scheduled interviews for teaching positions at the Secondary Education Board, announced by the Director of Administration of the Board.

“The due constitution of the State Secondary Education Board is receiving Government attention. The action of the Director of Administration scheduling employment interviews is unauthorised as it is inappropriate for one individual to assume the responsibilities of the entire Board.

“Therefore, the interviews are hereby postponed, and the Director of Administration is directed to promptly meet with the Secretary to the State Government.

“All inconvenience is regretted,” the statement read.
