19-Year-Old High School Graduate Takes His Own Life in Ogun Weeks After Mother's Passing

A 19-year-old secondary school leaver, Sunday Moses, has allegedly committed su.!cide in Afio Village, Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Moses was found hanging from a tree in a secluded rocky area of the village on Monday, February 10, 2025.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident to Punch on Wednesday stated that a police report from the Olugbo Outstation revealed that Moses’ mother had d!ed just weeks earlier and had yet to be buried in their hometown of Oju LGA, Benue State

According to the PPRO, the deceased had allegedly informed his brother, John Egbe, that he was going to find a spot with better network reception to make a phone call.

“The deceased left his home in Ogungbade Village early on February 10, 2025, to find better network service. When he failed to return, his elder brother, John Egbe, 47, grew concerned and traced him to the location where he made the devastating discovery,” the PPRO stated.

“Upon receiving the distressing report, police detectives were immediately deployed to the scene. Photographs were taken, and the body was carefully lowered in the presence of family members, who confirmed that no foul play was suspected.

“The family, devastated by the loss, requested that the remains be released for burial by their traditional rites.”

Odutola added that the command had launched an investigation into the incident.
