Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has promised to compensate singer and songwriter, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel aka Mayorkun, over stolen jewellery in Calabar.
CONVERSEER reports that the 29-year-old singer lost his two pieces of jewellery to thieves during his performance at the Carnival Calabar Festival Mega Concert on Monday at the UJ Esuene Stadium.
Meeting with the governor after the news spread across the board, Mayorkun said the governor promised to compensate him.
The multi-award-winning musician who calls himself the “Mayor of Lagos”, took to social media the disclose the development.

He wrote: “Just met with the Governor of Cross River State, H.E Prince Bassey Otu.
“He assured me that Calabar people remain very hospitable and he has also stressed that I’ll be compensated for my valuables lost. Thank you sir.”

Collaborating, Governor Otu’s aide, Ekeng Inyang said his principal is someone who doesn’t take things for granted.
“One Governor who doesn’t take anything for granted. Senator Prince Bassey Otu has great respect for people and he listens alot. Indeed, this is the true character of a bonafide Cross Riverian,” Inyang said in a post while sharing Mayorkun’s post.
The singer, on the other hand, is offering five million naira (N5m) as a reward for the remainder of his jewellery.
“Still searching for my pendant! It’s so special to me for many reasons. I have a 5 million naira reward for anyone who finds and returns it. Please help spread the word!” Mayorkun wrote in a thread on X.

CONVERSEER reports that fellow singer, Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk aka Iyanya has offered $500 as a reward for whoever returns the stolen jewellery.
Two pieces of jewellery were missing and one has been found – thanks to the intervention by Iyanya, the Kukere master.
