A customer with Zenith Bank, Mr Fabian Akwajie has closed his account with the bank over poor service.
Akwajie, a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Ward Chairman in Boki, Cross River, disclosed this on Friday on his Facebook page, following the bank’s inability to resolve his multiple complaints.
According to him, the new generational bank failed to resolve numerous issues, including failed Point of Sale, POS transactions, unjustifiable deductions, and many more.
“Today, I took a decisive action to terminate my association with Zenith Bank plc. I visited one of their branches in Calabar and initiated a transfer of my entire account balance,” Akwajie said.
Adding, “I find it untenable to remain with a bank that fails to address customer complaints adequately. The persistently poor network performance is beyond belief, and the unjustifiable deductions feel like a form of extortion. Numerous attempts to resolve failed POS transactions have gone unanswered for several months.
“In light of these issues, I have decided to sever ties with Zenith Bank.”
The PDP Chieftain’s post attracted a lot of like comments with many applauding his decisions and others following suit.

Replying to Akwajie’s action, Amos Otu said: “Well done chapter chairman (PDP), I have done same since last year – after I initiated a withdrawal, got debited but the cash couldn’t come out. I reported to the bank several times and upon all their promises to revert it, they ate my money. So, I tactically withdrew my money & left them. Their customers will keep leaving one by one since we have several reliable options.”
Another, Steve Modi said: “I commend you on this move, I’m next to follow suit, I have registered my displeasure countless times but to no avail…imagine trying my mobile app for 2 weeks without success…”
Mike Oyi Adoga who operates a business account with Zenith Bank said, “Is like my company will follow soon. I was duped of a huge amount of money about 5 months ago, till now nothing has been done.”
Emmanuel Akunke Andoya also said: “My sister-in-law almost lost the opportunity to move into a new house courtesy of Zenith Bank.
After agreeing with the landlord, she now transferred the money from her Zenith bank account to the Landlord, but guess what? That was the beginning of her troubles, the landlord did not see the money, therefore, she could not get access to the house she was paying for. She was chased out of her old house by the new Tenant of her old house. It took Zenith Bank more than Four weeks before they were able to sort her out. Thanks to the Landlord who was patient enough to have kept the house for her.”
Another customer, Ekpenyong Richard said: “Zenith Bank by my assessment, is the worst financial institution in Nigeria. Thank God I closed my account with them… Their Services remain the poorest…”
