The 17 military personnel who died on March 14 in the Delta village of Okuama have been laid to rest.
After burial customs were observed, the soldiers’ bodies, which had arrived at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja at approximately 2:26 pm on Wednesday, were lowered to the mother earth.
At the funeral service, dignitaries including President Bola Tinubu and Service Chiefs were present.
Recall that some angry youths ambushed and killed the soldiers of the 181 Amphibious Batallion, Bomadi Local Government Area, Delta State, while they were on a peace mission to Okuoma Community.
The event happened after a communal crisis between the Okuoma and Okoloba communities in Delta State prompted the army to respond to a distress call.
There were thirteen soldiers, one captain, two majors, and a lieutenant colonel among the personnel.
