The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, has suspended two clan heads in the Akpabuyo Traditional Rulers Council. The two clan heads in question are HRH Etinyin Ekpenyong Ekpo Asuquo, who serves as the Clan Head of Atimbo, and HRH Etinyin Archibong Ita Le’Nelson, who holds the position of Clan Head of Akansoko.

According to a press statement signed by Mr Nsa Gill, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor on Monday, 22nd April, both of these individuals have reportedly countered the directives of the Governor, which were aimed at maintaining peace and orderliness in the leadership position of the Akpabuyo Traditional Rulers Council.

The statement said such acts of insubordination are deemed unacceptable and have led to the indefinite suspension of the two individuals from their roles as Clan Heads. As a result of this suspension, they are not permitted to parade themselves in any form as Clan Heads until further notice.

The Governor also made it clear that the suspension of HRH Etinyin Ekpenyong Ekpo Asuquo and HRH Etinyin Archibong Ita Le’Nelson takes immediate effect.

The statement noted further that acting clan heads will be announced by the Governor to replace the suspended individuals.
