Burkinabe Government Initiates Campaign to Safeguard Thomas Sankara’s Legacy

The Burkinabe government has initiated a campaign to collect documents that highlight the life and leadership of President Thomas Sankara.

As part of this effort, government officials received a significant collection of archival materials and artifacts on Tuesday.

The collection includes 571 archival documents, 159 digital photos, 110 analog photos, and five statuettes related to the revolutionary leader.

These items were gathered by the National Archives Center and handed over to the Ministry of Culture for use in the Thomas Sankara Memorial Infrastructure Construction Project.

A government representative emphasized the presidency’s commitment to educating current and future generations about Sankara’s legacy.

Calling for continued contributions to the collection, he described it as a source of national pride and a crucial step in preserving the history of the August 1983 Revolution.
