AIG Mustapha Bala Assumes Office as Zone 6 Police Chief

AIG Mustapha Bala

Calabar, Nigeria – AIG Mustapha Mohammed Bala has officially succeeded AIG Jonathan Towuru as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 6 Command, headquartered in Calabar, Cross River State.

Towuru, who served as AIG in the Zone for two years, has been promoted to Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and now oversees operations in the South-South geopolitical zone.

Bala, the immediate past Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, has taken up his new role, bringing with him extensive experience in command and administrative appointments.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Bayero University, Kano, and a Master’s degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Hailing from Sandamu Local Government Area in Katsina State, Bala joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and is now the 32nd AIG to lead Zone 6, which includes Akwa Ibom and Cross River States.

In a statement released by the acting Public Relations Officer for Zone 6, ASP Edim Obazi Eyam, Bala urged residents of the Zone to remain law-abiding while assuring them of his commitment to providing robust security across the commands under his jurisdiction.
