Since the departure of Jose Peseiro after the 2023 African Cup of Nations, AFCON held in Ivory Coast from Jan. – Feb. 2024, where Nigeria won silver, the Super Eagles are now without a coach.
CONVERSEER learned that American-born Nigerian coach, Michael Nsien is reported to be a top contender to lead the 3-time African champions.
The 43-year-old is known for his innovative coaching style and currently coaches the USA U-19 national team.

Nsien holds a US Soccer Pro License, making him the first African-American to achieve this in 2020, as well as a UEFA ‘A’ License.
His successful coaching career includes leading FC Tulsa to two consecutive playoffs in 2020 and 2021 after starting in the youth ranks and eventually becoming head coach.
