According to a list recently announced by the United States Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Apple has obtained a design patent for the iPhone, which can control the screen by embedding an “electronically controlled filter” into the screen – a degree of polarization.
It was previously reported that Apple plans to install “blinds” on the MacBook screen to flexibly enable privacy mode.

This new patent adopts a different design idea. Adding a polarizing layer in the middle of the screen can filter some colours to ensure that only the front side can be fully displayed. In regular mode, it can be displayed normally. In “privacy” mode, only the front side can be viewed clearly.
