Arokodare tipped to join Manchester United amid €20m transfer talks

LAGOS (CONVERSEER) – As the European football transfer season gathers momentum, Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has emerged as a top target for English Premier League giants Manchester United, with a potential €20 million move in sight.

The 24-year-old forward, who had a remarkable 2024/2025 season with Belgian Pro League side Genk, is reportedly attracting interest from several European clubs, including Turkey’s Besiktas. Arokodare ended the season as the Belgian top scorer, netting 21 goals—making him one of the most sought-after strikers in the current window.

According to sources close to SportsBoom, Manchester United are seriously considering the Nigerian as they seek to address their long-standing goal-scoring issues. Last season, the Red Devils struggled in front of goal, scoring only 44 league goals—one of their lowest tallies in recent history. Forwards Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee, and Alejandro Garnacho collectively managed just 13 goals, underlining United’s attacking deficiencies.

In an exclusive interview with SportsBoom, Arokodare expressed a strong desire to play in the Premier League, naming Manchester United as his preferred destination.

“Obviously, it’s a dream to play in the Premier League, but I have my eyes on it for sure. Whatever options I have, I’ll take my time and make the best decision,” he said.

The Nigerian, who also revealed he is a long-time fan of the Red Devils, added: “I’m a Manchester United fan, and if it happens, it would mean a lot to me and my family. Of course, it would be a dream come true.”

Arokodare’s blend of physicality, sharp finishing, and aerial dominance has earned comparisons with some of the league’s traditional centre-forwards. His reported €20 million price tag is seen by many analysts as a bargain, especially when compared to other top strikers on the market such as Portugal’s Vitor Gyökeres, whose valuation exceeds €40 million.
