A 13-year-old Roma boy from the Dendropotamos area of Thessaloniki in northern Greece has been enduring years of domestic abuse due to his sexual orientation, according to authorities and reports from thestival.gr. It was reported to the Juvenile Protection Division that his mother had been physically and verbally assaulting him.
The victim told police that his mother had threatened him with a knife and beaten him. He also revealed that the abuse had been ongoing for several years.
In addition to the physical violence, the boy claimed his mother had denied him an education by not allowing him to attend school. The victim was examined by a forensic expert, and following an order from the juvenile prosecutor of Thessaloniki, he was placed in the care of his sister.
