Awoniyi Shines in FA Cup, but Injury Poses Dilemma for Nuno

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo has heaped praise on Taiwo Awoniyi after the Nigerian striker delivered a standout performance in their FA Cup victory over Exeter City.

Despite struggling for regular game time with Chris Wood favored in attack, Awoniyi made his mark in style. In the 37th minute, he latched onto a pass from Ibrahim Sangaré and unleashed a thunderous strike from the edge of the box, doubling Forest’s lead in spectacular fashion.

But just as he was making his case for more minutes, disaster struck. Awoniyi suffered a brutal clash with Exeter goalkeeper Joe Whitworth, leaving him with a broken nose and forcing him off the pitch.

“I think we are in a good place as a squad. As long as we stay healthy and continue working as we are, we can compete until the end of the season,” he said before the FA Cup clash.
