Bandit Attack in Northwest Nigeria Claims 10 Lives and Leaves 3 Missing Among Local Guards

Gunmen ambushed a group of local security volunteers in Zamfara State, killing ten and leaving three missing. The attack occurred near Bagega as the group was returning from an operation.

Among the casualties were six members of the Community Protection Guards (CPG) and four Yansakai vigilantes, whose burials took place on Sunday morning.

Authorities confirmed that two CPG members and one Yansakai operative remain unaccounted for. Following the incident, immediate medical assistance was ordered for the wounded, and relief materials were provided to the families of the deceased.

Zamfara is one of the states in the North-West and North-Central regions that is worst hit by banditry. While several lives have been lost, many have been displaced as the bandits keep wreaking havoc in communities.
