Armed bandits have k!lled 12 vigilante members in Sabuwar Tunga community in Adabka ward, Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The bandits, who attacked the community on Wednesday, also abducted four people.
Intelligence sources told security analyst, Zagazola Makama that the local vigilantes swiftly mobilized and repelled the initial attack.
However, as they pursued the attackers into the forest, the bandits launched an ambush, k!lling 12 vigilante members.
A security source in the area confirmed the incident, stating that the bandits overpowered the vigilantes during the ambush, inflicting heavy casualties before retreating deeper into the forest.
“The community initially repelled them, but unfortunately, the bandits regrouped and ambushed our men, leading to the tragic loss of 12 members,” the source said.
