Bauchi Commissioner Confirms Child in His Custody Amid Ex-Wife’s Abduction Allegations

The Bauchi State Commissioner for Water Resources, Abdulrazak Zaki, on Saturday, confirmed that the alleged abducted child is currently in his custody.

Zaki in a chat with journalists in Bauchi that his son and his police orderlies took the child from her school two weeks ago.

The commissioner’s ex-wife, Iklima Manu Adamu Soro, had on Friday petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, over the paternity of the child.

In the petition written on her behalf by a lawyer, Chris Umar (SAN), the woman accused her estranged husband of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, obstruction of the course of justice, and blatant disobedience to a court order.

She alleged that the child was abducted on the morning of January 20 in Bauchi.

However, Zaki said Governor Bala Mohammed, and the state Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, encouraged him to take the child.

He added that his actions were supported by a Sharia court which transferred custody of the child to him.
