BASEL (CONVERSEER) – FC Basel have officially clinched the 2024/25 Swiss Super League title, and at the heart of their triumphant campaign is none other than Bayelsa-born Nigerian winger Philip Otele.
Otele joined Basel on loan from UAE Pro League side Al Wahda on 15th January 2025 and quickly became a game-changer.
In just 17 league appearances, the dynamic forward has scored 9 goals and provided 4 assists, proving instrumental in Basel’s title charge.
His speed, flair, and ability to deliver in crucial moments have made him a fan favourite and a key figure in the squad.

Sunday’s goal in the 4–0 win against FC Luzern capped off a stellar season and underlined why Basel may be eager to make his move permanent.
Philip Otele who hails from Biseni in Yenagoa LGA of Bayelsa State is the son of Hon. Franklin Otele, Special Adviser to the Bayelsa State Governor on Petroleum (Oil).
