Bekwarra Councillors Allegedly Move to Impeach Council Chairman

By Solomon Ogar

Bekwarra, Cross River – Councillors from the Bekwarra Legislative Council are allegedly gearing and squaring up seriously against the Council Chairman Hon. Theresa Ushie.

The reasons for the desperate clandestine moves are not yet known, but Solomon Island reliably gathered this from a source privy to the impeachment plot against the incumbent Chairman.

The source wrote:

“Good evening YE. I was invited by some councillors in Bekwarra today to consult me before taking steps of impeaching the chairman which some persons/leaders are advising them to do but I had to advise them not to do it but see how they can pay you a courtesy call as the leader of the North to let you know how they are treated by their chairman before any other steps can be taking of which they have keyed in, so I need your permission and date that they can meet with you, sir. Nine councillors out of ten including the Leader. See the below. Seven were present, one was waiting in Calabar, and one could not meet up in the meeting. This has no consequence but just for your information. They don’t have such powers, but we don’t want this distraction, please.”

Bekwarra Councillors Allegedly Move to Impeach Council Chairman

One of the Councillors said: “I wish to use this medium to call Bekwarra Stakeholders that in moving to the path of prosperity, they need to call the Local Government Chairman to order. Even though Councillors are the smallest elected office, she should know that we also have our functions and we can wield the big stick.”

With the foregoing, it appears all is not well with the Council Chairman and Councillors.

We are yet to independently verify this story.
