Remo Stars Bolster NPFL Lead with Ikorodu City's Victory Over Kano Pillars

Enyimba fell to yet another defeat in the Nigeri Premier Football League (NPFL) as they lost 1-0 to Bendel Insurance on Wednesday night.

The game played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, saw the People’s Elephants reduced to 10 men early in the game.

Innocent Gabriel was sent off for harshly bringing down Kayode Oke in the 21st minute, handing the hosts a numerical advantage.

Oke then netted the winning goal for Bendel Insurance 10 minutes after the break to earn all three points as they held on.

Elsewhere, Shooting Stars suffered defeat for the first time in nine league outings as they lost 2-0 against Kwara United in Ilorin.

Kabiru Muhammed gave the hosts the lead in the 22nd minute, while Ojifinni Abdullahi added the second three minutes before the half hour mark.

Shooting Stars remain in second position despite the defeat, eight points adrift leaders Remo Stars.

The other rescheduled game on Wednesday saw Kano Pillars record a 2-1 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

Rabiu Ali and Rashid Alasan were the goalscorers for Pillars while Al-Amin Umar scored for the visitors.
