Benin Military Conducts Large-Scale Anti-Terror Exercise to Evaluate National Response Readiness

Benin’s Defense and Security Forces are conducting a large-scale anti-terrorism simulation exercise, METROPOLIS 2025, today, March 21, on Ouidah beach.

The drill aims to test the country’s response capabilities to potential terrorist threats.

The joint exercise, involving the Republican Police and the Beninese Armed Forces, is part of a national strategy to enhance operational preparedness against evolving security threats.

Authorities have assured Ouidah residents that they should remain calm and continue their daily activities as the simulation unfolds.

Alongside the security exercise, the Ministry of National Defense is offering free medical services from March 19 to 21 at Ouidah City Hall.

Residents can access consultations in general medicine, dental surgery, ophthalmology, urology, and ENT services.

The initiative comes as Benin reinforces its defense systems amid growing regional security concerns, particularly in neighboring Sahel countries.
