BREAKING: 11 Killed by Bandits in Kaduna Villages

in News

Armed bandits attacked Tsohuwan Gayan village in Kaduna State’s Chikun Local Government Area on Tuesday night, killing four residents.

Two others sustained injuries and were rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Kaduna town.

A village source, who participated in the burial of the victims, described the assailants as heavily armed and said they stormed the community in a coordinated, military-style assault.

The source mentioned that the corpses were drenched in blood, as the bandits had fired multiple rounds into the victims. This included the two survivors, who were initially thought to be dead but were later discovered to be alive after the attackers had fled.

He said they are living in fear because the bandits might return to again unleash terror in the community having accused them of spying for the security forces.

Similarly, armed bandits wielding sophisticated weapons stormed Zakada village last Friday in Kauru local government area, killing seven locals and kidnapping several others.

A distraught resident of Kauru local government area, Muhammad Sani, confirmed the development to SaharaReporters.

SaharaReporters also learnt that some houses were torched and properties looted by the non-state actors.

The source further elaborated that there is a media blackout on killings, kidnappings, and other serious crimes in the local government to prevent undermining the government’s narrative of having reached a peace agreement with armed bandits.

On Sunday, February 2, SaharaReporters reported that residents of Fadan Ruruma in Kumana Chiefdom, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, had fled their homes following the abduction of 17 people by bandits.

The victims were kidnapped during an attack on the community some nights earlier, according to the Community Development Associations’ (CDAs) forum.

The forum’s PRO condemned the recent attack and urged the government to urgently strengthen security measures to protect lives and property.

The forum strongly condemned the incident, describing it as part of the frequent attacks, kidnappings, and killings of innocent people in the area.

In a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Daniel D. Achi, the forum expressed deep concern over the escalating activities of armed bandits, noting that people were “attacked and kidnapped almost daily without fear.”

According to the statement, insecurity has forced many residents to abandon their homes, leaving behind farm produce that is yet to be harvested.
