Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali to Strengthen Ties with Russia

The Foreign Ministers of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger will embark on a strategic visit to Russia on April 3rd and 4th to strengthen diplomatic relations.

In a joint statement on Tuesday, the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) announced that the visit aims to foster strategic, pragmatic, and dynamic cooperation with Russia in areas of mutual interest.

During the visit, the foreign ministers of the three nations will hold a high-level meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to discuss key areas of partnership.

The AES member states, currently led by transitional governments, have been deepening their ties with Russia, particularly for military support, after severing relations with France and other Western forces.

The Moscow meeting marks the first session of AES-Russia Consultations, a significant step toward building a more solid and long-term partnership.
