The Chairman of Calabar South Local Government in Cross River State, Hon. Esther Bassey has slumped and died.

CONVERSEER gathered that Hon. Bassey died at the hospital on Thursday, February 23 after being rushed there for complaining of a stomachache.

According to a source, the Chairperson was complaining of a stomachache after which she slumped.

“She was complaining of a stomachache yesterday (Thursday), and suddenly, she slumped. She was then rushed to the hospital where she gave up her ghost”, a reliable source said.

Recall that Hon. Bassey and traders (petty) have been at loggerheads over levy collection at Watt Market.

There was an instance when she was recorded making a tribalistic statement about traders at the market.

The controversial Chairman at one point accused residents of Calabar Municipality of littering Calabar South when the metropolis was in total dirt.
