A motorcade carrying Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Tim Walz was involved in a car crash Monday afternoon. Vans transporting members of the press collided on Interstate 794 just before 1 p.m. as the motorcade headed to a Labor Day event in Milwaukee, CBS News reported.
One staff member in the press van may have suffered a broken arm and was being treated by medics on the scene, according to journalists present. The collision occurred when one van abruptly struck another ahead of it, only to be hit from behind moments later, throwing the occupants forward, the report said.
Walz’s vehicle was not directly involved in the incident, media reported, adding that he continued on his journey.
After a brief delay, reporters and staff were transferred to new vehicles and continued on their way to the Walz event. The exact cause of the crash remains unknown, according to the online news outlet The Hill.
