Chief Dennis Otiotio Thanks President Tinubu for Appointment

YENEGOA – Chief Dennis Otiotio, PhD, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, has expressed profound appreciation to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, following his appointment as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu, located in Ebonyi State.

In a statement released shortly after the official announcement of the appointment, Chief Otiotio described the development as a great honour and a significant responsibility. He extended his heartfelt gratitude to President Tinubu for finding him worthy of the role and for the confidence reposed in him to help oversee one of the nation’s key agricultural institutions.

“I wish to express my profound gratitude to His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, for graciously appointing me as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal College of Agriculture Ishiagu, Ebonyi State,” Otiotio said.

He also acknowledged the role of other prominent figures in the party who contributed to the appointment. Specifically, he thanked the National Chairman of the APC, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, for his steadfast leadership and continued support, as well as his political mentor, former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva.

“I wish to also convey my sincere appreciation to the National Chairman of APC, H.E. Abdullah Umar Ganduje and my boss, H.E. Chief Timipre Sylva, for facilitating the appointment,” Otiotio added.

He concluded the statement with a message of spiritual gratitude, stating, “May God alone be glorified.”

Otiotio’s appointment comes as the federal government intensifies efforts to strengthen agricultural institutions and develop sustainable strategies to address food security across the country. The Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu, is expected to play a central role in these initiatives, particularly in research, training, and support for agricultural innovation.

With a background in law, governance, and party administration, Otiotio is widely regarded as a seasoned leader with a firm grasp of policy and organisational development.

His appointment is expected to bring strategic oversight and renewed direction to the institution’s board, aligning with the Tinubu administration’s broader agenda of institutional reform and sectoral growth.

The news has been received positively within APC circles and across Bayelsa State. Party stakeholders, political allies, and youth groups have described the appointment as both deserved and timely. Many view it as a recognition of Otiotio’s longstanding service to the party and his consistent contributions to political development and governance at the state and national levels.

Otiotio, who continues to serve as the APC Chairman in Bayelsa State, is expected to balance his new responsibilities with his existing leadership role, further strengthening the party’s influence in the South-South region.

The appointment reaffirms the Tinubu administration’s commitment to rewarding merit, building inclusive governance structures, and empowering individuals with proven track records in public service.
