BIASE (CONVERSEER) – Federal Lawmakers in Cross River State have been called to action to look into the dilapidated state of St. Augustine Secondary School, Umon Island, Biase Local Government Area.
This call was made by Ekpenyong Ona, a citizen of the state and an indigene of the local government on Wednesday.
He called on Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong and Hon. Emil Inyang, representing the area in the upper and lower houses of the National Assembly respectively, to, as a matter of urgency, look into renovating the school.
According to Ona, it is the only Secondary School in the area.
“That’s the dilapidated state of St. Augustine Secondary School, Umon Island. The only Secondary School we have in Umon South Ward of Biase LGA of Cross River State.
“We humbly appeal for the renovation of this school,” wrote on Facebook, copying Sen. Ekpenyong and Hon. Inyang.

Converseer reports that Ekpenyong is representing the Southern Senatorial District comprising Biase, Akamkpa, Odukpani, Calabar Municipality, Calabar South, Akpabuyo and Bakassi local government areas, while Inyang is representing Biase/Akamkpa Federal Constituency.
There are pockets of incidents like this across the state that need urgent intervention.
