The Centre for Journalism and Innovation Development (CJID) has moved to enhance efficient and accurate fact-checking in journalism through innovative technology.
The centre which will be officially launching two innovative tools, the Dubawa Audio Platform and Chatbot in its Journalism, Digital Tech and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Conference said it was its contribution to fight misinformation in the world.
It is important to note that, the Journalism, Digital Tech and AI Conference will be held on May 27 and 28 in Abuja, to discuss how rapid advancements in technology and AI are reshaping the way news and information are told and consumed.
The conference which would be a gathering of journalists, media stakeholders, technologists and civil society organisations would have keynote addresses, panel discussions, case studies, and interactive sessions.
It aims at facilitating dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing on strategies for navigating digital disruption, harnessing the power of AI, and ensuring the continued vitality of the media ecosystem.

Similarly, the centre has also announced its initiative on Inclusive AI Collective in Nigeria which will spearhead nationwide research, innovation and governance of AI technologies while fostering a vibrant community practice.
“While we would be coordinating the collective’s work around AI governance, we would be partnering with other civil society and tech organisations to advance this AI course in Nigeria.
“The Lagos Business School will lead research activities and serve as research manager whilst providing training programmes and nurturing talents through academic courses and research projects.
“Data Science Nigeria, the first dedicated AI start-up incubation hub in Nigeria will spearhead initiatives aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in AI, establishing a platform for start-ups to develop and scale AI solutions,” the centre maintained.
