CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – The Cross River State College of Commissioners, class of 2023, has endorsed Governor Bassey Otu and his Deputy for a second term.

The Commissioners, heading over 30 ministries, carried out the endorsement on Monday at the Ministry of Women Affairs office, Calabar.

They mentioned the numerous projects – completed and ongoing – as the yardstick for the endorsement.

The College of Commissioners 2023 also used the avenue to endorse President Bola Tinubu and his Vice, Kashim Shettima, for a second term.

“We’ve seen the work His Excellency has done in terms of pensions and gratuity, Cross River State deserves such a governor for eight years,” Hon.Lawrencia Ita, Commissioner for Establishments, Training And Pensions, stated.

Hon. Edema Irom, Commissioner for Women Affairs, said the many projects scattered across the three Senatorial Districts are enough for Otu to go for a second term.

On his part, Dr Stephen Odey, Commissioner for Education, disclosed that all the Commissioners are part of what the Governor is doing, so they are the right people to endorse him.

“Every project that has been approved, we’ve been part of it, so we’re the right people to tell what the Governor has done.

“In our various local government areas, the governor has done very well. This is the only government that has registered over 20,000 candidates for WAEC. We have a brand new University under two years. Yache has never had a tarred road before; thank God for His Excellency; the people now enjoy good roads.

“We have endorsed His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu and his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, for a second term, we must use this opportunity to endorse the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his Vice, Kashim Shettima, for a second term too.

Moving a motion for the endorsement of the Governor and his deputy, and the president and his vice, Pastor Ekpenyong Cobham, Commissioner for Transportation, stated, “If you asked me, I’ll say 2027, no experiment.

“On this note, I want to move a motion for the adoption of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Vice, Kashim Shettima, and His Excellency, Governor Bassey Otu and his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, for a second term.

The motion was seconded by Dr Justin Beshel, Commissioner for Science and Technology.

Converseer reports that the endorsement was led by Dr Erasmus Ekpang, Commissioner for Information, and Dr Henry Ayuk, Commissioner for Health.
