Cross River Government Begins Statewide Asset Recovery as Residents Applaud Otu

Calabar, Nigeria – The Cross River State Government has initiated a comprehensive statewide assessment to reclaim public assets unlawfully occupied by individuals and organisations.

Leading the effort is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Asset Management and Recovery, Barr. Gilbert Agbor, who launched the exercise in the central senatorial district, with plans to extend it across the state.

Addressing journalists in Calabar, weekend, Barr. Agbor issued a firm warning to illegal occupants, urging them to vacate immediately. He emphasised that the government is committed to using all legal means necessary to recover its assets.

He further noted that the assessment has already yielded significant progress, reaffirming the administration’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and effective asset management.

The initiative has garnered widespread support from Cross Riverians, who see it as a decisive step toward responsible governance. Among those commending Governor Bassey Otu is the Chief Executive Officer of Hit FM Calabar, Mr Patrick Ugbe, who praised the administration’s determination. He encouraged the government to remain resolute despite potential resistance, ensuring that public assets are recovered and put to appropriate use for the collective good.

Following Governor Otu’s directive to the Asset Management and Recovery Department to investigate and reclaim illegally acquired state property, residents have eagerly anticipated the repossession of these assets for public benefit.

The state government remains unwavering in its commitment to protecting public resources, ensuring that government assets are efficiently managed and utilised in the best interest of all Cross Riverians.
