Cross River Govt Assures Ogoja College of Nursing of Devt

OGOJA – The Special Assistant to the Governor on Nursing, Mr Coco-Bassey Esu, has assured the management of the College of Nursing Sciences, Ogoja, of continued infrastructural development under the administration of Governor Bassey Otu.

Speaking during a visit to the college, Mr Esu stated that the governor had provided the necessary funds to upgrade the institution from a School of Nursing to a College of Nursing.

He emphasised that the administration prioritises the advancement of nursing institutions across the state, aligning them with the standards set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) while making them globally competitive.

“What I see here is impressive, and His Excellency is committed to doing even more by introducing additional programmes,” Esu said.

The upgrade, once uncertain, has now been realised through concerted efforts. The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has approved the college’s National Diploma (ND) programme, while the NMCN has accredited its nursing programmes, ensuring long-term sustainability.

Expressing her gratitude, the Provost of the College, Dr (Mrs) Ohora Enyieko, acknowledged the governor’s intervention.

“The governor has come to our aid. This institution was almost forgotten, with no government presence. But today, thanks to Governor Otu, there is a renewed sense of hope. We are deeply grateful to him. He has given us a new lease on life, and we will not disappoint him,” she said.
