International Skating Championship CRSG closes Carnival Route today for International Skating Championship

The Government of Cross River State is organising a maiden International Skating Championship today, Saturday, 15th June 2024.

The competition tagged “SKATETHON 2024” will be held on the 12km Carnival Route – from Eleven-Eleven (11-11) Roundabout down Mary Slessor Roundabout to Rabana Roundabout to Efio-Ette Roundabout to Mobil by MCC down to the Stadium.

A notification issued by Hon. Ekanem Ekpenyong, Special Adviser to the Governor on Sports Development, on Friday, advised commuters (road users) to use alternative routes during this period.

According to Ekpenyong, the 2024 International Skating Championship (SKATETHON 2024) will start at 8am and end at 2pm.

“This is to inform the general public that the Carnival Route will be closed on Saturday 15th of June 2024 for the International Skating Championship SKATETHON 2024.

“The route will be closed from 8am to 2pm. Commuters are please advised to explore the regular alternative roads.

“We regret any inconvenience this may cause you,” the statement by Ekpenyong read.

Alternative routes to ply include Parliamentary Extension through Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Bypass through IBB to Etta-Agbor Roundabout to UNICAL Main Gate to Etta-Agbor by Orok Orok.

Other routes include Murtala Mohammed Highway by Flour Mill through Essien Town to Diamond Hill to Leopard Town Drive to Moore Road to Beach Market or Garden Street to Watt Market as well.

You can also use Parliamentary through Ibok Street to MCC by Timbre and Akai Effa.

CONVERSEER reports that the International Skating Championship is the first of its kind in the state.
